An update about v2 development

Hey y'all, it's been a while since the v2 announcement. I really didn't want to make this post, but due to circumstances out of my control, I have to.

Long story short, development for v2 is on hold indefinitely.

Without going into too much detail, my health has been on the decline this past year (unrelated to COVID). Coincidentally, the symptoms for my current condition started to appear shortly after when v2 development started in December, and have worsened as the months went on, significantly worsening in April/May.

I announced v2 on the same day I started treatment for my condition, and that affected me way more than I had expected, completely destabilizing my productivity and other obligations. Had I kept the pace I was working at during the summer, the game would be done before the literal end of the year, on 12/31. At this point, a timely release is unlikely.

Will development continue in the future? Maybe, at least not in its current iteration. During the decline, the project has built up an unreasonable amount of technical debt, and I haven't been in the right headspace to re-architecture it in a maintainable way. I hope to improve my skills with quick small projects before returning to a larger scoped project like this.

For now, I'll be taking a break to focus on my health and recovery.
